Shyamala Krishnan is the creative lady behind Zillifiori, fired by her imagination. She learnt the art while in the US and unleashed her creativity upon her return to Chennai.

All Zillifiori jewellery is made from polymer. Having initially brought all the ingredients with her from the US, she makes limited editions of her jewellery pieces for her select clientele. She designs all the jewellery herself, and imports the materials including hooks, clasps and chains. She mainly makes earrings, neck wear and bracelets. The earrings can range from Rs.100 to Rs.250 and the more complicated designs may set you back by Rs.500 - 700.

She started making jewellery for her own satisfaction, selling only a few pieces initially. As demand grew, it became a full fledged business for her. She also keeps one hand on the pulse of what they young are wearing, and her designs cater to their needs and trends. Some clients have given her their sarees or suits, and requested her to customize jewellery to match the print / embroidery!

Polymer jewellery is totally non-toxic and hypoallergenic. It is also extremely lightweight. Polymer needs to be fired and glazed, and Shyamala painstakingly does all of this at home! Some of her jewellery is set with semi precious stones like malachite, Chinese Jade, Turquoise and even Swarovski crystals!
