A.R. Rahman’s combo with Shankar and Rajnikanth doesn’t need an introduction, as their albums are ennobled as evergreen chartbusters. Much specifically, their previous showpiece ‘Sivaji – The Boss’ had some of the mind-boggling songs and is still ringing high on everyone’s charts. This time, A.R. Rahman has elevated the standard of Tamil music to the next level. It’s completely international as his musical orchestration is carried out on western style.
1.Puthiya Manitha
Vocals: S.P. Balasubramaniam, A.R. Rahman and Khatija Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
This song is in complete contrast when compared to previous title songs of Rajnikanth films. As on expectations, his title songs would be more on stringed instruments and trumpets roaring on high tempos with magniloquent percussions. But this is an elision as the song is delivered in a different style. The song takes off with A.R. Rahman’s vocalism intonated in Robotic voice followed by SPB in similar touch. Rahman’s daughter Khatija has crooned couple of lines.
2.Kadhal Anukkal
Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
A splendiferous melody with the best singers on track… Vijay Prakash has already stolen everyone’s attention with his stunning voice in ‘Hosanna’ and ‘Veera’. Shreya Ghosal with her usual style turns on the spotlights. The lyrics by Vairamuthu needs special mention as the lines have been written from a scientists’ point of view. You have the terms ‘Atoms’ (Anukkal), Neutrons, Electrons, Oxygen and many more.
3.Irumbile Oru Idhayam
Vocals: A.R. Rahman, Kash ‘n’ Krissy
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
English lyrics: Kash ’n’ Krissy
Cherry-pick of this album indeed!!! the overpowering techno-beats and unparalleled intonation by A.R. Rahman makes you heed it over and again. Not to forget the western singers Kash ‘n’ Krissy: who have embellished the feel of western genre with their emblazoning style.
4.Chitti Dance Showcase
Vocal: Pradeep Vijay, Praveen Mani and Yogi B
Additional Arrangements and Programming: Praveen Mani
The stunning fusion faintly reminiscences of ‘The Liquid Dance’ of academy award winning album ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The pumping beats over the percussions, metal guitars and running vocals of Praveen Mani makes this song more fantabulous. This song features the Robot Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai shaking legs together.
5.Arima Arima
Vocals: Hariharan and Sadhna Sargam
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
It’s sure to draw your attention for the first time you hear it. The grandiloquence exists throughout the song in all arenas. Be the accompanying orchestral beats or the voices: they’re at its best. Vairamuthu’s erotic lyrics capture the attention of youth cohorts. The visuals by Shankar should precisely make the music yet more top-notching.
6.Kilimanjaro
Vocals: Javed Ali and Chinmayee
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Additional Vocal Arrangements: Clinton Cerejo
A.R. Rahman’s adherence towards African tribal music has been prevailing from his previous album ‘Raavanan’. ‘Kilimanjaro’ has interesting attributes like lyrics for frontbenchers and style of crooning by Javed Ali. However, Chinmayee looks little hyperactive towards certain lines, which could have been avoided. Clinton Cerejo’s additional vocal arrangements of African style are brimmed with finesses. The song has been pictured across the deep forests of Peru.
7. Boom Boom Robot Da
Vocals: Yogi B, Keerthi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan, Tanvi Shah
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
The song precisely savors the tastes of children and youth cohorts as both lyrics and music are synchronized to their interests. Yogi B, Keerthi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan and Tanvi Shah have done a marvelous job over the tracks. The song is about singing praises of Chitti – The Robot.
On the whole, the songs of ‘Enthiran’ have the best numbers from A.R. Rahman and it has already created a revolution in World Music.
Verdict: Go for it…
