The hot new sensation on Indian fruit shelves is this creamy, juicy berry…
The kiwi may look like a brown egg on the outside, but inside it’s a luscious green with black specks. It’s the new entrant on the Indian fruit scene. It has graced many a self-respecting dessert, cheesecake, salads, fish and even cakes, and most people are familiar with this “Chinese gooseberry.” Decorative as it may seem, the kiwi also has tremendous nutritional and health benefits that many people don’t know of.
The exotic Kiwi is a natural blood thinner, rich in Vitamin E, folic acid, and Omega 3, as well as a rich source of beta-carotene. It contains more Vitamin C than most other fruits, is high on fibre, potassium and magnesium. The Kiwi is known as the anti-oxidant fruit which can slow down the ageing process, lower cholesterol and even assist in weight loss being low in calories.
This vibrant green fleshy fruit has a tangy sweet and sour taste and extremely refreshing flavours. It is known to build up the immune system, helps maintain healthy eyesight, has a mild laxative effect and eating just two fruits a day is enough to reduce oxidative damage to the cells of the human body. This humble fruit may not look like it, but it is a storehouse of unadulterated goodness.
Traditionally grown in China, the Kiwi is named after the flightless national bird of New Zealand. The Kiwi fruit is notoriously difficult to pollinate since its flowers are rather unattractive to bees. These emerald delights are not just a feast to the eyes and tongue, but are a delicious way to enjoy good health!
