If you’re looking for some great north Indian food and a restaurant that won’t burn a hole in your pocket, you should head to….
Copper chimney of course! Centrally located on Cathedral Road, this spacious restaurant has a pleasing ambience. Some interesting paintings of monks and bhikshus dominate the walls, in fiery orange and gold. If you’ve visited Copper chimney’s Mumbai cousin, you will notice that the menu and the taste remains quite the same in both places.
The cuisine is distinctly north Indian and the aromas greet you even before the waiters do! Try paneer or chicken tikka for starters along with mint chutney. They serve a wide array of papads and the ones with chopped onion and chaat masala topping are great! The hot naans come smothered with butter, the tandoori and pudina parathas are crisp and flaky. The biryani has a mouth-watering aroma. The chicken dishes, mutton do pyaza, all echo distinct spices and flavours. No North Indian meal is complete without the signature dal makhani, served at Copper Chimney with a dollop of fresh cream. The veggies have a great deal to choose from: palak paneer, a horde of paneer dishes, bharwan aloo, corn and spinach, bhindi masala, a variety of daals and lots more! For desserts try the lip smacking hot gulab jamuns, malai kulfi, a variety of ice creams and more.
Copper Chimney serves can’t-go-wrong food with a flair and flourish. The prices are reasonable, the service is quick and it’s a great family restaurant. However, the tables are too closely set for comfort or conversation! Worth a visit if you crave North Indian specialties and cuisine! Ensure a prior reservation to avoid disappointment!
