A Slice of Sindh in Mumbai…

We bring you the scoop on the Mecca of Sindhi food in the heart of Mumbai. No trip to Mumbai is complete without tasting this delicious fare…

Kailash Parbat’s tryst with Mumbai goes back to 1952, it has served generations of loyal foodies, is the only restaurant to dish up Sindhi specialties and is best known for its variety of faloodas, kulfi, chaats and juices. What first began as a roadside halwai cooking tasty fare in the narrow lanes of Colaba, has now become a landmark in Mumbai. It is named after the abode of Shiva, which is also synonymous with fulfilment, peace and spiritual satisfaction. The brainchild of the Mulchandani brothers, Kailash Parbat is quite the haven of good food amidst the bustling city.

Kailas Parbat is best known for its signature Sindhi dishes, which include seyal mani, aani basar, aloo phool batasha, aloo tuk ( crispies), khus khus wale aloo, moongan ji maakhni daal, seyal chawar (rice flavoured with coriander and caramelized onions), sai bhaji, Sindhi kadhi, koki and bhugal bhee aloo (potatoes cooked with lotus stem). Their thirst quenchers include the apple, mint & pear juice, chikoo / alphonso milk shakes and masala chaas (lassi)

The Mumbai favourites include ragda patties, vada pav. The list of chaats encompasses dahi papdi, corn tikki, bhel puri, pani poori, kachori chaat, mirchi kachori and sev poori. Other choices include chana bhatura, Pindi chole, Pashtooni daal makhani, biryani, rajma etc. Polish it all of with bajra roti, naan or parathas. Kailash Parbat is also one of the few places in the city to serve the Rajasthani / Sindhi specialty dessert, ghewar.
