Ever wanted to stroll down the streets of Paris? Dreamt of sitting at quaint roadside cafes? Wanted to soak in the culture of the true French, the hippies, art worshipers, romantics and others who converge in France right through the year?

Well, young photographer Vinoth Vijayaragavan did just that in his maiden visit to France early this year. What more, this talented and expressive photographer has also brought back from his tour de France, a glimpse of the famed French streets.

The images he captured in black and white on silver films are delightful for the simple fact that they are unobtrusive, and capture moments of life on French streets without suggesting traces of stage management. Vinoth took these images when he visited France last December. Speaking from Dharamshala where he has now gone to on a photo assignment, this photographer says “Photographing in France was a new experience. Besides the obviously difference in culture, the attitudinal difference was awesome”, he notes. 

A photographer who has moved in from the idyllic and colourful environs of Thiruvannamalai district to the hustle and bustle of Chennai a few years back, Vinoth is passionate about realistic photography. He has a soft corner for street photography, but is a versatile realistic photographer and has etched out remarkable photo documentaries on a range of subjects like Indian festivals and their moon sign affinities, the cultural ethos of places like Benaras and Thiruvannamalai, photo documentaries on topics like Tibetans in India, etc.
