And Saarang 09 came to an end. Saarang 09 came to a thrashing end by a stupendous performance by Opeth, the Swedish rock band.

With opening acts by Indian bands, Demonic Resurrection and Mary Jane, Opeth won hands down with the crowd chanting `Opeth! Opeth!` and other necessary swearing, a regular feature seen at any black tee gathering. The day earlier saw a brilliant performance by rural arts folks and a dare devil performance by a fire breather whose hair actually caught fire and a couple of karagatam artistes who got the most claps and whistles.

Saarang 09 started on a jubilant note as it was the Golden Edition of the most awaited student in this part of the country with people traveling all the way from the North East for Opeth. Day 1 saw one of the most awaited for events, `Choreo Nite`. The day part saw people thronging the Find Near You stall where some cool, yet rustic games were organized by us like, `Formula 0`, a cycle tire race, like the village kids, a game which was lapped up by the geeks and nerds of IITM as well as visitors and `The Tower of Saarang`.

Day 2 saw an ever swelling crowd waiting to get in the Open Air Theatre to catch a glimpse of Sonu Nigam and hear him sing for the Light Music Pro Show. The other attraction for the day was the event, Street Play which saw a huge crowd watching and applauding with near professional shows by most of the participating teams.

And then the main event for which the entire country had been waiting for - Opeth. As Ramank, a college student who had come all the way from Delhi for this put, "I hope they play more of Damnation. I love the album." And the entire IITM campus vibed with a never seen before in Chennai sight that would bring out the zeal in every metal fan. It was a great sight as a metal fan to see a sea of black tees whichever direction one turned on day 4.

As Tapass, drummer of the rock band Skrat put it on the night of Opeth,"This is the most grandest Saarang I`ve evern seen! Waiting for the next edition of Saarang!"
