LUCKY KARTHIK STEAL HEARTS

Belting out songs from his albums interspersed with his numerous filmy hits, Lucky Ali crooned into everyone`s hearts with his soulful romantic voice!

When Saarang happens, people forget routines and give their precious life`s mundane ways to attend the fest! Such is the magic of IIT-Madras` cultural fete. And when Saarang decides to rope in two of the most sought-after singers to perform for their Light Music Night, what one is talking about can be termed `the perfect symphony ever orchestrated`!

Hearing Lucky Ali and Karthik one after the other may well prove to be an extremely risky situation considering how one is sure to get crazy on hearing their voices! Lucky Ali took stage at 7:00 pm IST at IIT`s choc-a-bloc OAT as the sultry sunny day slowly paved way to inky blue skies and a mild nightly breeze!

Belting out songs from his albums interspersed with his numerous filmy hits, Lucky Ali crooned into everyone`s hearts with his soulful oh-so-romantic voice! Be it the immortal `O Sanam` where the audience joined him or his chart-busters `Ek Pal ka jeena` and `Kyun Chalthi hain pavan`, Lucky made sure the audience remembered the show much after it got over by providing a quality fare! Aided ably by his team, with able support from Subash in vocals, Lucky moved from strumming our heartstrings with his `Aa bhi jaa`(Sur) to making us groove with his `Tere mere saath jo hota hain`!

After a delay, Chennai`s own husky-voiced Karthik took stage, and how! Starting with `Oru Maalai`(Ghajini) and getting the audience up on its feet with `Theradi Veedhiyil`(Run), `Girlfriend`(Boys) and `Endrendrum Punngai`, Karthik amiably kept the crowd involved to provide additional voices in all his songs! In an age where ego rules the roost, Karthik proved his humility and prowess by rendering songs by other artistes as well, including `We will, we will rock you`, `Nilaa Kaigirathu` among others. Adding his own improvisations and flourishes- excellent in quality, Karthik stole the hearts of all present by singing songs from the Telugu movie `Happy Days`, as a dedication to all the Andhra-ites that IIT is known to have. Kalyani accompanied Karthik in the duets.

With interesting anecdotes and a warm continuous chatter with the audience throughout the show, Karthik`s concert was more like a friendly performance by namma-ooru-paiyyan than an extravagant evening with Tinseltown`s golden voice!

With stellar performances from both the singers, one only wished, at the end of the day, that they had performed at least a song together! It surely would have been doubly deadly then! But at the end of the day, as cell phones flashed to do the typical music-concert light-wave, one felt a nice warm feeling taking house within! And when one thought these two stars made the day for the audience, someone reminded me of what Lucky Ali and Karthik remarked at the light-wave, "It was like a billion stars out there! You people made my day!"
