Unlike the western culture where dessert is served at the end of the meal, here they served banana pancakes (appam / small dosai) dipped in honey and ghee after the soup.

This new hotel on Royapettah High Road, is gaining popularity for its week-end buffet lunch and dinners. The food served, is strictly vegetarian. But that does not limit the variety dished out off the counters. You will first be tempted to make at least one round of all the counters laden with dishes on food warmers in order to feast your eyes.

The important thing is that this restaurant prides itself on being authentic in taste, yet the dishes are not highly priced. It works out to approximately Rs.250 per head.

They hold theme buffets, which they advertise beforehand. During my visit, the theme buffet was “Thevat Sapaadu”. The doorman, and all the waiters, staff and even the cooks at the counter were dressed in white zari veshti and white cotton shirts. The plates were the traditional steel “thattus”.The menu for the buffet included a regular soup ( pepper & tomatoes) which had turned slightly cold (may be someone slipped up). It just melted in our mouths. The remaining food was regular South Indian fare keeping in tune with the theme. Of course there were other sweets in the end for regular desserts including ice creams. One just wished that they had included filter coffee too in the menu!

The whole setting was relaxing and none of the waiters were rushing around. Even towards the end of the meal, they politely requested us to fill up a feedback card and inquired whether we’d like something else. Overall it was an enjoyable afternoon making the holiday truly one!

It’s definitely worth a visit during the next theme buffet.
