The food is an amalgam of the konganadu region with a wide repertoire of dishes.
asam- the very word evokes an image of aroma and spice. However when you visit the restaurant, Rasam, you will find all the joys of its namesake in a more understated form not as spicy but definitely as interesting and tasty.
Located in Raja Annamalai Road in Purusawalkam, Rasam is Sri Krishna Sweet’s flagship restaurant. Housed on the first floor, of a historic building, it boasts of high ceilings and old South Indian architecture with a modern polish. Since “Rasam” is a part of an old house there are dining rooms, clean and bright with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere is warm and cosy.
Rasam offers authentic Konganadu food. The Konganadu region in Tamil Nadu, includes Coimbatore, Erode, Pollachi, Dharmapuri, Karur, Kangeyam and Thiruchengode. The food is an amalgam of all these regions and includes a wide repertoire of dishes.
We tried out a variety of dishes and each had its own merit. The drumstick soup truly stimulated the appetite. I loved the piping hot Vadais. The corn vadai, the traditional vazhai poor (banana flower) and keeria (green leafy vegetable) vadai - each had its merits and I can safely recommend them all.
The main course was a selection of different varieties of rice and kormas. The paniharam was also very soft, moist and tasty. Each dish had its own USP and this is a place for experimentation as the sheer variety of local Konganadu cuisine on offer is worth checking out.
The dessert rounded of an excellent meal. The elneer payasam (tender coconut pudding sort off) was delicate on the palate and taste buds and was an able complement to the stronger and richly flavoured halwa.
The service was good, the rates are fair and Rasam scores top marks for food, ambience and service.

Peculiar restaurant name. But name it self gives us appetite feeling. Love to eat my regional food. I find my grandmothers receipes there. Good to taste. But, having a doubt in my mind. Is it "Kongunadu" or "Kondanadu". Use some spell checkers before posting. ya! Had some misspelt words

The Hindu- still the leading newspaper in Chennai- spells the region as Konganadu. All proper nouns generally have more than one spelling so do words borrowed from other languages.
