Mall Mania

To see how the mall culture has finally hit Chennai, you just have to visit Citi centre!

The mall where hip Chennaites prefer to spend their time in is Citi centre, on Radhakrishanan Salai, a stone's throw away from the beach. The massive structure with tall pillars and carvings on walls and ceiling, houses brand stores ranging from Landmark to Lifestyle, besides eateries like the KFC, Copper Chimney and Sangeetha's. The popularity of the place can be gauged on weekends when the place resounds to innumerable footfalls flitting from end to end.

Lifestyle wins hands down! Get yourself some new make-up, or some lingerie, buy an ensemble or two or shop for the baby! How about clutch bags, large floppy bags, smart stilettos or metallic flats with diamantes? Looking for a dinner set, silk cushion covers, bedspreads, sheets, towels or duvets? Find the perfect gift as you wade through reasonably priced photo frames, candles and candle stands, vases, platters, lampshades and framed prints. Then there are silk flowers and ferns sprinkled with gold dust….

Escalators from the basement parking area allow you to enter the mall directly circumventing the staircases. “Landmark”- the bookshop, occupies a large area. The mall houses stores like Health and Glow, Titan, Bossini, Max, jewellery, accessory stores and funky footwear outlets. The presence of the high end theatre INOX besides gaming parlours has elevated the popularity of the mall.

And should you get hungry from all that walking about, just hop into the fancy restaurants or the food court and get right back to walking down shopping aisles.
The food court is invariably packed to capacity and its’ rare to get a table without a wait!
