Away from the hustle and bustle of Radhakrishnan Salai, tucked away in a quiet lane near Kalyani Hospital, Ashvita is almost like an oasis of calm! This restaurant / café is ensconced in a sprawling mansion. The backyard has been deftly converted into an open air café and the mansion houses a restaurant, a book store, an art gallery and a design store!

What Ashvita offers in terms of food can be termed as a complete meal. You can choose from their selection of platters which include the chaat platter, Asian platter, Kebabs and grills, momos and the Indian platter. What literally takes the cake is the fact that for the price you pay per platter, you can eat all you want!

The Momo platter comes with a soup and an assortment of momos (Rs. 325). The kebabs are succulent and well done. This platter includes seekh kebab, shashliks, tikkas, rotis, dal, biryani and gravy (Rs. 390). The Asian platter boasts of a soup, three appetizers, main course and dessert all for Rs. 390. If you want to tickle your taste buds go for the chaat platter (priced at Rs. 250). The Belgian chocolate platter is sinfully decadent at Rs. 325. 

You could take your pick from the a la carte desserts, priced a reasonable Rs. 150: melt-in-the-mouth cheese cake, Kahlua cake, hot gulab jamuns, tempting gajar ka halwa, chocolate fudge cake or ice creams. 

Ashvita introduces Chennai to a new concept in eating out. The platters are a novel concept, offering a variety in distinctive cuisine. It also panders to those who love to pig out, with their “eat-all-you-want” policy!
